This years Chicago Sky’s team is clearly better than the team that won it all last year which was 16-16 at the end of the season. The Sky this season at the beginning of the second half are 16-6 with the best record in all of the WNBA. Candace Parker last season missed a good amount of games but when she was healthy the Sky won it all despite being the 6th seed in the WNBA Playoffs as any team can get hot at the right time. This Sky team looks really good and they can defiantly repeat as long as everyone remains healthy. The highlight of this years Sky season so far was on June 21st in Las Vegas where they were down 28 points and recorded the biggest comeback win in WNBA History.
This Sky team is so balanced led by the hometown native Candace Parker who is one of the game’s best players of all time. Courtney Vandersloot continues to be the game’s best point guard. Allie Quigley is the game’s best shooter where on Saturday she won her fourth All-Star Weekend Three-Point Contest the most all-time among any NBA or WNBA Player. Chicago got to host the All Star Weekend which was so cool. 2021 WNBA Finals MVP Kaleah Copper continues to show why she is a star in Chicago and former Finals MVP in Washington with Emma Meesseman. Emma has a been a huge addition for this Sky team making them a more dangerous team. Azura Stevens continues to do her work on both sides of the court. What an amazing job GM/HC James Wade has done turning them from a below average team to a Championship contender.
The Sky have been on a roll in there last 10 games going 8-2. The Sky lead the league in multiple categories like field goal percentage on offense, three point field goal percentage, free throw percentage and assists while being near the top in scoring offense. I really hope the Sky repeat and maybe send Parker on a high note if she goes out on top, but maybe Candace Parker wants to keep it going by continuing to play for the Sky in her hometown state.
