The 2023 Chicago Bears off-season is off and running. The Chicago Bears not only traded down from the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft to the 9th spot with the Carolina Panthers, they also signed some key free agents as well to bolster their roster. I will breakdown everything below.
The Chicago Bears had the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, I had a strong feeling they were going to trade down and stockpile for more draft picks and they did indeed trade down with the Carolina Panthers recently who will for sure draft a quarterback with the top pick. The Bears got a great haul in return from the Carolina Panthers. So the Chicago Bears got in return pick #9 and #61 for this years NFL Draft along with a first round pick next year, a second round pick in 2025 and WR DJ Moore. I love that the Bears got a huge weapon for Quarterback Justin Fields in DJ Moore. DJ Moore is a very good WR who is very underrated. Great trade for the Chicago Bears trading down in the Draft to get more draft picks. So right now in the 2023 NFL Draft the Chicago Bears have the following picks listed below:
- Round 1, Pick 9 (from CAR)
- Round 2, Pick 53 (from BAL)
- Round 2, Pick 61 (from CAR)
- Round 3, Pick 64
- Round 4, Pick 103
- Round 4, Pick 133 (from PHI)
- Round 5, Pick 136
- Round 5, Pick 148 (from NE)
- Round 7, Pick 218
- Round 7, Pick 258* (*Compensatory selection)
So What are the Chicago Bears going to do now with the 9th pick in the upcoming NFL Draft????? I say right now either pass rusher or offensive tackle or possibly trade down again but who knows now at this point. The Chicago Bears added some key pieces to bolster their roster in free agency which is a start. The one I really liked was former Bills LB Tremaine Edmunds who will fit in nicely in this 4-3 defense. Edmunds is only 24 years old and is one of the most underrated inside linebackers in all of the NFL. I also liked former Eagles LB TJ Edwards along with offensive guard Nate Davis who use to play for the Tennessee Titans and former Packers TE Robert Tonyan plus former Panthers running back D’Onta Foreman where he will likely fill the void left by David Montgomery who signed with the Detroit Lions. I was shocked the Bears didn’t make an offer for Montgomery or maybe they have faith in Khalil Herbert as there new top running back. Good start for the Bears so far in free agency, now let’s see what happens next month with the NFL Draft.
