As we ring in 2026, we’re taking a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come — and to share some exciting updates with our readers. This June marks the 20th anniversary of Binary News, and just over 3 months earlier, our sports blog Double Overtime (DOT) will celebrate its 4th anniversary.
Binary News has had quite the journey. It began on June 18, 2006, as a personal news and opinions blog called Walking Contradiction — a humble project built to share insights and commentary on current events. The site took a short hiatus in 2020 for a full redesign and returned in 2022 as Double Overtime, our sports-focused brand. Then, by mid-2023, we brought everything under one roof again with the complete relaunch of Binary News — a modern, fast, and flexible news platform that connects our roots in commentary with our passion for analysis.
We’re also thrilled to announce that the Binary Response column is officially returning, this time as a dedicated newsletter! You can now sign up for it over on Substack, where we’ll be delivering commentary on specific editorials a few times per week by other more widely followed reporters straight to your inbox. The third Binary Response article is scheduled to go up on Substack tomorrow, so be sure to check it out and subscribe if you haven’t yet!
And that’s not all — we’re rolling out additional design updates to the website in the coming weeks leading up to DOT’s 4th anniversary on February 22, 2026. More fresh features and improvements will follow after that.
