Whenever the 49ers and Cowboys meet it’s always a big game as these 2 iconic franchises have met in so many big games over the years in both the regular season and the playoffs. Going into this week 5 game on Sunday Night in Santa Clara the 49ers were rolling at 4-0 while the Cowboys were 3-1. Remember these 2 teams met back in January where the 49ers won a 19-12 thriller in the second round of the NFL Playoffs where they knocked Dallas out of the Playoffs for the second year in a row.
The magic of Brock Purdy continues as he has lost only 1 start which happened to be last seasons NFC Championship Game where he knocked out early with an injury against the Philadelphia Eagles. In this game Purdy was 17-24 for 252 yards throwing 4 touchdowns, 3 of them to star tight end George Kittle and 1 to fullback Kyle Juszczyk. 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan called a great game as the 49ers offense stayed ahead of the chains and Purdy was sacked only 1 once by the Cowboys rush and no it wasn’t stud pass rusher Micah Parsons. Christian McCaffrey was a huge pickup for the 49ers where they traded for him from Carolina last season before the trade deadline and that made their offense more explosive. Brock Purdy has a great offense around him with Christian McCaffrey at running back who also can catch the ball out of the backfield as CMC had 78 all purpose yards and 1 rushing touchdown. Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk are one of the best duo’s in all of the NFL at wide receiver as they combined for 7 catches for 113 yards while Samuel added 30 yards rushing as well. Maybe just maybe the 49ers have found their quarterback to finally win a Super Bowl for the first time since the 1994 season.
Meanwhile the 49ers defense is scary good, in the last 3 games against the Cowboys including the Sunday Night thrashing the Cowboys have scored 17, 12 and 10 against the stingy 49ers defense. The 49ers didn’t allow a first down until the second quarter. The 49ers have a lot of big names on that defense with the likes of pass rushers of Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead who combined for a key sack on Dak Prescott. While stud linebacker Fred Warner had a key sack, forced fumble and interception while his linebacker mate Dre Greenlaw also had a sack as well. 49ers secondary is very underrated as a whole. Prescott was sacked 3 times by the 49ers rush while also throwing 3 interceptions and the Cowboys had only 57 yards rushing. Right now the 49ers are among one of the best teams in all of the NFL as I didn’t see this blowout coming at all but they made a statement last night with a 42-10 thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys.
