Chicago Bears First 2 Pre Season Games

I have really liked what I have seen from the Chicago Bears so far in their first two pre season games. I will will talk about game #1 against the Titans from last week. Justin Fields and the starting offense started off with a bang tossing 2 touchdowns on screen passes one to Khalil Herbert and new Bears wide receiver D. J. Moore where they caught short passes and took it to the house where they racked up big yards after the catch.  Bears offensive line looks improved where they made some key blocks down the field on the 2 long touchdowns.  Justin Fields didn’t take a sack which is good as he was taking a beating last season.  I also liked what rookie running back Roschon Johnson did where he had a nice 24 yard run where he broke a tackle and gained extra yards.  I think he could be the backup to starter Khalil Herbert.  As for the Bears defense which got 8 sacks on the Titans even though they were mainly playing backups and guys who won’t be on NFL rosters when the season begins soon but the Bears defense look improved.  The Bears pass rush looks improved as Terrell Lewis had 2 sacks while second round pick Zacch Pickens also had a sack early in the game.

In the Bears second pre season game at the Indianapolis Colts both the Bears and Colts didn’t play their starters even though they did multiple joint practices throughout the week as both teams were trying to figure out what kind of depth they have.  The big story in the Bears second pre season game was the Bears may of found there backup quarterback in Tyson Bagent who looked really poised who led the Bears on a 17 play 92 yard drive which ended with a 2 yard run from the quarterback himself in the second quarter.  PJ Walker has looked bad in this pre season in the a battle of the Bears backup to Justin Fields and I wouldn’t be surprised when the Bears release him.  Terrell Lewis had another sack as he continues to make  a case to make the Bears 53 man roster.   Bears have one more pre season game this Saturday at home against the Buffalo Bills before the regular season begins September 10th against the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field. See if the Bears can be somewhat of an improved defense and Justin Fields can take the next step as a passer the Bears could possibly be a playoff team with the NFC not having as much firepower than the AFC.
