The Chicago White Sox have begun the house cleaning as Owner Jerry Reinsdorf have fired longtime executives Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn. Kenny Williams began his front office career with the White Sox as a scout in 1992 and then became the GM in October of 2000 until October of 2012 where then Kenny Williams became the Executive Vice President of the Chicago White Sox. Rick Hahn became assistant GM in 2002 before becoming the GM of the White Sox in October of 2012. The White Sox unfortunately haven’t had much success under the both Williams and Hahn when they were both the GM. Yes the White Sox did win the World Series in 2005 but haven’t had much playoff success before and after that under both Williams and Hahn. The White Sox outside of the 2005 World Series Championship have won a total of 3 playoff games, one in 2008 and 2020, 2021 all in the first round of the MLB Playoffs which is not acceptable. Under Owner Jerry Reinsdorf you usually think of an owner who is very loyal to his people and he kept both Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams way too long as the White Sox are having a very bad year in 2023.
The White Sox need to look outside the organization for a fresh voice whoever that is to get this team back on track. I heard that Assistant GM Chris Getz could be the next GM while Dayton Moore who is currently with the Texas Rangers could be the next President of Baseball of Operations. Dayton Moore use to be with the Kansas City Royals, yes the Royals did win the AL Pennant in 2014 and won the World Series in 2015 but the Royals in most years have been very bad and the White Sox should look at someone else from a better organization to get them back on track. If the White Sox make Assistant GM Chris Getz the next GM the Sox are asking for big trouble, they need to clean everybody out of the front office and start all over. Will Owner Jerry Reinsdorf continue screwing up or will he finalyl do something right for a change???? I heard that the White Sox are also thinking about bringing back former Manager Tony La Russa back as a consultant which I am very mixed about. Tony La Russa is getting up their in age and he has had some health problems which is why he retired from managing the White Sox in 2022. Whoever comes in for the White Sox I think current manager Pedro Grifol will be either be one and done as White Sox manager or he could be in a prove it year in 2024 under whoever the new boos will be. Time will with the White Sox as they have some very big decisions to make.
