College Football Heading Into October

The College Football season is getting more clear each week as the calendar flips to October this weekend.  On the opening weekend Florida State beat up on LSU in a battle of top 10 teams with a decisive 45-24 win.  In week 2 Texas went into Tuscaloosa and beat Alabama by hanging 34 points on Nick Saban’s crew.  The last time Nick Saban lost a non conference game at home was his first season at Alabama in 2007 against Louisiana-Monroe.  Last week Ohio State went into South Bend and got a huge win at Notre Dame as Ohio State got a winning touchdown with a few seconds to go where this was also a battle of top 10 teams.  Meanwhile Clemson who I thought was going to bounce back this season has already lost 2 games and is nowhere where they use to be under Dabo Swinney.  Alabama sure could run the table still make the College Football Playoff but they still don’t look like themselves this season.  I think with Notre Dame being independent where they are not being part of a major conference will hurt them not getting into the College Football Playoff where they just lost a huge game at home to Ohio State.

If I had to rank my top 4 teams right now I will say Georgia at 1 even though they have looked vulnerable at times this season as the 2 time defending national champions but they are still well coached by Kirby Smart and have so much talent even though they have a new quarterback.  I don’t see anyone in the SEC beating Georgia this season as the Bulldogs are heads and shoulders above everyone else.  I think Michigan is my number 2 team right now where I personally think they are the biggest threat to Georgia from 3peating.  Michigan has 2 huge games coming up, one on November 11th at Penn State and of course on November 25th in Ann Arbor against their big rivals Ohio State.  I say Texas number 3 where as I mentioned above they got a huge win on the road at Alabama and on October 7th huge game against their biggest rival the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game where this game will have huge implications on the College Football Playoff race.  I say right now Ohio State is number 4 but I think Florida State has a case as well to be in the top 4. Ohio State does host Penn State on October 21st which will be a huge game in the College Football Playoff race.  I also think teams like Penn State, USC, Washington and Oregon are in the mix as well.
