College Football Playoff Rankings after Rivalry Weekend

It all comes down to this as the College Football Season now heads into Championship Weekend where these game will have massive implications for the College Football Playoff.  I think the 2 biggest ones will be #3 Washington at 12-0 against #5 Oregon at 11-1 in the Pac 12 Championship game this Friday in Las Vegas.  If Washington wins they are definitely in, if Oregon wins then they definitely have a chance as well.  Remember Washington survived earlier this season against the Ducks on October 14th in Washington winning 36-33 as Oregon missed a field goal at the end.  The other Championship game that will have massive implications will be the SEC Championship Game this Saturday in Atlanta between #1 Georgia at 12-0 and #8 Alabama at 11-1.  Georgia if they win are in for sure as they are going for a 3peat while Alabama if they win will be in for sure, but if Georgia loses what about them as they have been number 1 all season long?  Sometimes the committee goes by the 4 best teams and sometimes the 4 most deserving teams.

With Michigan beating Ohio State on Saturday at the Big House, Michigan should take care of Iowa on Saturday in the Big 10 Championship in Indianapolis to get into the College Football Playoff as the Wolverines are #2 at 12-0 behind Georgia.  Iowa yes has a good defense but they have no offense and I don’t think they have the offensive firepower to match up with Michigan.  I am really interested with Florida State at #4 who is 12-0.  Yes the Seminoles won at the Gators on Saturday but their offense doesn’t look the same after star quarterback Jordan Travis went down with a season ending leg injury last week against North Alabama.  If FSU struggles this Saturday in Charlotte in the ACC Championship Game against Louisville and if the Noles win do they still make the CFP??????? Noles have a really good defense but can the offense pick up the slack without Jordan Travis??????  The Texas Longhorn who are ranked at #7 with an 11-1 record are huge favorites against the Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship game this Saturday in Arlington Texas.  Remember Texas is the only team to beat Alabama this year as they won on the road at the Tide in week 2 which is huge for their resume. So many scenario’s here and let’s see what happens this weekend before Selection Sunday.
