For the first time since 2011 and for the first time under Jim Harbaugh, the Michigan Wolverines finally beat the Ohio State Buckeyes on the football field. If not for that blown lead against there in state rival Michigan State, the Wolverines would be undefeated right now. Michigan won 42-27 in Ann Arbor where Ohio State’s hopes of going back to the College Football Playoff are dashed after the Buckeyes suffered their second loss of the season, the Buckeyes other loss was to the Oregon Ducks in week 2 at home. I expect Michigan to jump to #2 on Tuesday night behind Georgia who is clearly the best team in the nation. Michigan now controls it’s own destiny to not only win the Big 10 Championship game but also a spot in the College Football Playoff. Michigan plays Iowa this Saturday in the Big 10 Championship game in Indianapolis. #1 ranked Georgia has a huge game in the SEC Championship game against #3 Alabama who escaped barley on the road against feisty Auburn winning 24-22 in 4 overtimes. The Dawgs routed Georgia Tech 45-0. I think the top 3 will be Georgia at #1, Michigan at #2 and Cincinnati at #3. As for #4 I could see possibly Alabama who has struggled lately, possibly Oklahoma State who just beat a very good Oklahoma Sooners team or Notre Dame but the Irish’s best win is 4 loss Wisconsin. We shall see come Tuesday night. I think it will be Georgia at 1, Michigan at 2, Cincinnati at 3 and Alabama 4 if I had to guess or Bama could be 3 and Bearcats could be 4, we shall see.
So here is the deal in the SEC Championship game, win or lose I expect the Georgia Bulldogs to get in the CFP since they haven’t lost a game yet and have clearly looked like the best team in the Country for most of the season. If Alabama wins they are definitely in, but if they lose they are out since they already have a lost to Texas A&M on the road earlier this season. As for the Cincinnati Bearcats they need to win the American Athletic Conference Championship game (AAC) against a ranked Houston Cougars team or they will be out of the College Football Playoff. The Bearcats took care of business on Black Friday at East Carolina University. The Oklahoma State Cowboys after winning against their longtime rival Oklahoma could possibly get in who play Baylor in the Big 12 Championship game where both teams are currently ranked in the top 10 and if the Cowboys win on Saturday they would have back to back top 10 wins which may get them into the CFP. Notre Dame doesn’t play on Championship week since they are independent but they are still at 11-1. I think the Irish will need chaos to get into the CFP. I think the Final Four will be Georgia, Michigan Cincinnati and Oklahoma State come next Sunday if I had to guess.
